AD HOC CCD DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TASK FORCE
ANNUAL REPORT

December 19, 2006

The Adhoc Task Force on Developmental Disabilities worked mostly on appropriations efforts for programs benefiting people with developmental disabilities.  The Task Force began meeting regularly beginning in the Fall of 2006 to begin preparing for the reauthorization of the Developmental Disabilities Act scheduled for 2007.  The Task Force developed a basic fact sheet about the DD Act programs, reviewed ideas put forth by the Administration regarding the DD Act reauthorization, and met with staff of the Bipartisan Disability Caucus co-chairs to plan for a congressional briefing early in the New Year. Co-Chairs of the Task Force participated in a national Family Support Summit in December in Lawrence Kansas to help develop consensus on national policy regarding family supports.

Future Activities:

The Task Force plans to develop principles and recommendations for the reauthorization of the DD Act, including the Family Support Act.  The Task Force will begin meeting with key committee staff early in the 1st Session of the 110th Congress.

Co-Chairs in 2006:

  • Kim Musheno, Association of University Centers on Disabilities
  • Anne Rohall, National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities
