  This document sets forth four basic principles that need to be followed in discussions about ways to change and improve the existing Social Security disability programs regarding initiatives to promote employment for beneficiaries. It also includes an overview of current work-related recommendations by CCD. If enacted, these recommendations would modernize and transform the programs so that people who want to work could do so without fear of repercussions. At the same time, these proposals would preserve the critical income supports and access to health and long term supports and services needed by so many people with severe disabilities.

• Summary of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act (H.R. 1180).  H.R. 1180 passed both the House and Senate just before Congress adjourned.  The bill is expected to be signed into law the week of Dec. 13.
