The Telecommunications and Technology Task Force deals with issues related to access to telecommunications and assistive technology in education, employment and independent living.

Update
The Technology/Telecommunications Task Force has been focusing on two areas:

1. Seeking full funding for the Assistive Technology Act including state assistive technology programs and the national technical assistance project and restoration of funds for the protection and advocacy assistive technology programs. The task force sent a sign-on letter to the hill on behalf of Assistive Technology Act program funding.

2. Preparing for the U.S. Access Board’s refreshment process for their guidance on Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which requires all information technology purchased by the federal government be accessible, and Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act, which requires accessibility features in telecommunications equipment.

• President Bush signed the reauthorization of the Assistive Technology Act, H.R. 4278, into law on October 25th. The bill is now P.L. 108-364
