CCD Alert on Public Charge Rule
On October 10, the Department of Homeland Security proposed the “public charge” rule. This rule would allow the U.S. to keep out people it thinks might use government benefits to meet their needs. The public charge rule will discriminate against immigrants with disabilities and their families trying to enter the U.S. (get a visa) or get a green card (become a permanent resident). It is critical that the disability community speaks out against this devastating rule before the public comment period closes on December 10th.

Videos of ADA/Community Integration briefings in House and Senate, July 29, 2013
This briefing discusses the history, purpose, and vision of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The first of several briefings, it will focus on the ADA's "integration mandate" and the Supreme Court's Olmstead decision. Speakers will describe the importance of the integration mandate for people with disabilities, what integration means, its implications for state service systems and for the Medicaid program, and the future of community integration.
